History of Sangareddy Postal Division

SANGAREDDY is the District Headquarters of Medak District in Telangana Region of Andhra Pradesh Postal Circle.  Medak District is one of the famous districts in AP.  Medak District is comprising of two postal divisions i.e. Sangareddy and Medak.  Sangareddy was Head Post Office till 1951 comprising of Sub Offices and Branch Offices of entire Medak District.  In October, 1951 it was downgraded as Sub Office and placed under Secunderabad Head Post Office.  Again from 1.1.1960 it was upgraded as Head Post Office.  Siddipet was upgraded to Head Office with effect from 01.04.1980 and Medak Head Post Office with effect from 01.12.1980 and Zaheerabad HPO with effect from 01.05.1980.  Narayankhed and Zahirabad wee originally under Bidar Postal District and Postal Division.  On their transfer from Bidar District to Medak District, the Post Offices also came under Medak Division with the formation of Rangareddy District.  Ramachandrapuram which was under Secunderabad was transferred to Sangareddy Division w.e.f. 01.09.1981 and Shankarpally Post Office which was in Sangareddy Division was transferred to Secunderabad Division w.e.f. 01.01.1986.
